STOPSuicides UK is undertaking extensive research into an area of suicide prevention that in our view is underserved: Critical path analysis.
s. What are detailing circumstances that lead up to disastrous events. Not just stress and suicides by parents but we will also be examining what causes some people to harm partners and children. In our view there has not been enough detailed research into what is clearly a complex timeline and sequence of events. This fresh approach at examining, without the threat of losing funding, will enable us to take a completely objective approach.
By examining real cases closely and moving away from simply a statistical approach, we are looking into what leads up to people harming of self harming. As a group we have a deep understanding of what leads to stress and suicide but a thorough examination into the detail in our view has been significantly overlooked.
It is perverse that the UK Government is so keen on tackling suicide and funds suicide prevention programs and yet is guilty, in our view, of introducing actions and procedures and interventions (without any duty of care applied) that actually cause and lead people to such harms.
We believe that Government intervention into the lives of parents has played a much bigger role to play and we will research this thoroughly and present our findings in due course.
